Paths and Walls
The stones for the dry stone walls come from the region - some of them are also stones from old, demolished Baden-Baden villas that have been used here. Only the wild boars cause the walls to shake from time to time ;)
The walls in the arboretum were built after the acquisition of the land in the 1970s to support and secure the hillside. They emulate the dry-stone technique and are tilted slightly towards the slope. Stone from a local Baden-Baden quarry was used for their construction.
The network of paths in the arboretum has seen a number of additions made to it over the years. This also included the creation of a number of new entry points to the grounds. Some of these routes had become overgrown but were restored and extended in 2022.
