The thermal baths
Whether modern or traditional, textile-free or with swimwear, the Caracalla Spa and Friedrichsbad Spa offer the right wellness experience for every taste.
What is the difference between the two spas?
The modern Caracalla Spa offers 5,000 square meters of bathing pleasure. In the thermal landscape, you’ll find various thermal water pools, saunas, steam baths, relaxation rooms, and a spacious outdoor area. Massages, as well as wellness and beauty treatments, complete the experience.
The historic Friedrichsbad Spa combines grand Roman bathing culture with Irish hot air baths. Experience 19th-century bathing culture across 17 stations and immerse yourself in a world of relaxation and well-being. Starting July 1, 2024, Friedrichsbad will offer textile bathing days. Every Wednesday and Saturday, guests can enter the Friedrichsbad exclusively in swimwear. On all other days (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri, Sun), bathing is traditionally textile-free. Please note that the popular soap brush massage is offered upon request and subject to availability only on non-textile bathing days.
Where does the thermal water come from?
The thermal water rises in the spring area of the Florentinerberg. There are a total of twelve springs here, which reach the surface artesian from a depth of around 2000 metres - due to the pressure of the earth's masses - at a temperature of between 56 °C and 68.8 °C. This makes them the hottest and mineral-rich springs in the whole of Baden-Württemberg. This makes them the hottest and most mineral-rich springs in the whole of Baden-Württemberg.
The springs are around 12,000 to 17,000 years old and pour out around 800,000 litres of thermal water per day (9 litres per second).
