Arrival & mobility in Baden-Baden

Arrival by train

The Baden-Baden Railway Station is well connected to the German and European rail network. Each track is equipped with an elevator and the entrance to the station building is barrier-free thanks to a ramp and automatic door. The disabled toilet at the entrance to the main station is free of charge and accessible with a Euro key. From here you can quickly reach the city center by bus or cab.

Arrival by car

Baden-Baden is easy to reach via the A5 highway. Follow the signs to the city center or to your hotel.

Arrival by plane

The nearest airport is Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport (FKB). From there, you can quickly get to the city center by cab or rental car.

Public transportation

When procuring new buses, the Stadtwerke Baden-Baden public transport company relies on specialized low-floor buses with an entrance height of 28 cm. The middle bus door is provided for wheelchair users. The stops in and around Baden-Baden are gradually being made barrier-free.

The Kunsthalle has a barrier-free entrance with a bell at the rear of the building on Friedrichstraße. Barrier-free access is possible via the main entrance of the Museum Frieder Burda, which is connected to the Kunsthalle by a glass bridge. There is also a barrier-free toilet in the neighboring museum. Please contact reception to use the barrier-free elevator to the first floor. Guided tours for the disabled can be requested by telephone.

Museum LA8

The LA8 museum has ground-level access and a barrier-free double door with a bell button. An elevator takes you to all floors and exhibition rooms of the museum. A disabled toilet in the basement is accessible by elevator. Group tours in easy language are available on request for people with learning disabilities.

City Museum | Stadtmuseum Baden-Baden

For wheelchair users, there is a 150cm wide ramp with a bell next to the main entrance. The city museum also has a barrier-free toilet and an elevator with a surface area of 75cm by 150cm. The height of the operating bar is 120cm. A wheelchair is available for visitors.

Baden-Baden offers a variety of leisure facilities that provide barrier-free access and special facilities so that every visitor can relax and enjoy themselves without restrictions. 

While the Hardbergbad has two disabled parking spaces, a ramp to the main entrance and disabled-friendly changing rooms, showers and toilets, the Sandweier lido also offers a free beach wheelchair, barrier-free parking and level access.

For cultural experiences, the Cineplex Baden-Baden offers several wheelchair-accessible seats in the cinema auditorium, audio descriptions for the blind and visually impaired and barrier-free toilets on every floor. 

You can also explore the Gönneranlage via two side entrances, despite some steps. The Lichtentaler Allee stretches three and a half kilometers from the city center to Lichtenthal Monastery and has well-maintained, wheelchair-accessible walking paths along the Oos. The numerous park benches are perfect for a short break and invite you to linger.

And the Merkur Funicular Railway, which has had barrier-free access at both stations since its renovation, makes it easy to stay above the clouds with fantastic views and cozy hours in the summit restaurant.
